Roy gingerly exited the car, bidding goodbye to Bonnie. Evening was ascending down rapidly—sky bathed in fiery shades of orange, yellow and melting blue. A flock of white birds flew past Roy's head. Shaking off the drowsiness catching him, Roy went up the stairs to the fourth floor, keyed the door open with weighing shoulders. "Vhloo!!" Roy was greeted by a half naked—unruly Ken, whose words just now got jumbled up due to toothpaste foam in his mouth.

He takes my hand and everyone watches as he is forced to get down on one knee and kiss the hand of the woman he failed to kill. He mumbles my name, Dawn, and I will be the one to rule this court, not him. How could he rule a court if he cannot kill one woman? I have won, and tomorrow will be the promising ceremony, the first step to claiming my land that he stands upon and it will be the land he dies upon.

Not now. Vanessa was close to her door when she received a text message on her phone. Her heart skipped a beat; Jake was the first thought that crossed her mind. She couldn’t tell if she was afraid or excited, but her heart would not stop thudding in her chest. She looked at her phone. The text message wasn’t from Jake. We talked over our plans until we arrived at the airport and boarded our flight. “Damn I hate flying.” I tell the others. Wolves are meant to be on the ground, not in the air. I feel completely disconnected up here. “Quit yer bitchin’ wolf boy. It’s only a few hours flight.” Garrett said. I gave him a look filled with disdain and then closed my eyes. Maybe if I fall asleep it’ll go by quicker. Next thing I know I’m being shaken awake, thank the gods. “Come on princess, we’re here.” Garrett said.

Being back in the air was a sensation Rain couldn’t quite get used to, but this mission was different. This time, she was on a small plane with a select group of soldiers who were being moved to the front to help complete a mission that was almost done. All eight of the soldiers on board the flight had recovered enough from their wounds during various other attacks that they could now go back into active duty. Rain was ready to storm the fort where President Violet was reportedly hiding, and she was glad to have Adam by her side, not only on the flight but also when they land

"I’m coming in hot! I don't know how to fly this thing in reverse but I’m doing it!" Through the swirling snow and debris, the sleek black shape of a stolen Council Osprey transport jet roared into view. The rear ramp was open. "Jump!" Jack ordered. They were sliding off the edge into a freefall. Jack grabbed Cain. Catherine grabbed Olivia. They leaped into the void. For a second, they were weightless, suspended between the collapsing ruin of the false god's temple and the unforgiving ice below. Then—THUD. They hit the metal ramp of the Osprey. Jack skidded, slamming into the bulkhead. Catherine tumbled next to him.
