I would love to spend the rest of the senior year far away from our beloved undefeated quarterback. Ever since Matt left for college last year, leaving his mark in the school's history, people were worried about this new season without him. But Nate Herond not only keep up with my brother record but also beat him. He had been the first player to do so many touchdowns in a row. Barely starting the season and he was already a legend. People acclaimed him and it only made my rage for him grow.

The team was warming up. Running drills. Passing. Shooting. Moving in quick, practiced patterns under the lights while the gym slowly filled around them. And there, at the center of my attention before I had any say in it, was Tyler. Game uniform. Black jersey with the school colours trimmed along the edges. Dark hair damp already from warm ups. Body moving with a kind of easy, controlled power that made everybody else around him look a half step slower. I’d seen him at school in pieces. Hallways, parking lots, classrooms and doorways. I’d seen him in casual clothes, in uniform, in a half lit room leaning against a desk while he ruined my entire week.

Tyler smiled wider as he answered, "Summer training starts at the end of May, and our coach wants us all settled in and on campus by then. I plan to get there about a day or so early so I can walk around and start learning the grounds." Matt smiled knowingly at the boy's answer and then pretended to act worried, as he asked, "You got a full scholarship, didn't you?" Tyler smiled proudly as he answered, "Yes, sir, full ride. Books, board, meals, and any other school fees are all paid for." Matt smiled approvingly as he asked, "Will you be staying on campus and eating in the cafeteria?" Tyler nodded as he said, "Yeah, I'll get a dorm and eat in the cafeteria. The rooms are big and the food is

AUTHOR'S POV The sharp, ear-piercing noise of a chair being jerked out from under someone got the attention of everyone in the room including Katherine. Tyler looked at her strangely for a moment, but she was too enthralled in the situation unravelling before her eyes. Brock Johnson, the quarterback of the football team, was up to his old tricks again. If you asked Tyler, that boy needed a good lesson taught to him the hard way, but of course, Tyler couldn't care less. The boy now being tormented wasn't him or one of his own. Why should he care?

I mumbled an apology and bent to pick it but it was kicked away by the person I'd bumped into. I frowned and looked up to see a pair of sharp evil black eyes glaring at me. It was Tyler, the assistant football team captain and second most popular boy in the school. He was the one who had my first year in school miserable with his constant bullying and as usual, his two minions were behind him. Unfortunately, a person I didn't want to see as well, Asher. I fisted my palm in anger, of course Asher was here. Tyler was his best friend and they moved around together as the most handsome and popular duo in the whole school.

“And he started picking on me first. The very first week of the winter semester, he intentionally clipped my skates during an open-enrolment scrimmage. Out of nowhere. I thought he was just another arrogant transfer trying to make a statement.” “Okayyy,” I said, drawing out the syllable as a sharp, triumphant grin broke across my face. “Then he was supposed to be signed into your club, but you used your leverage with the board to completely push him out. Now, where exactly is he signed, Tyler?” “Hawkins,” Tyler whispered, the realization turning his voice completely lethal. “The exact team we have an intercity exhibition match with next week.”

My internal battle didn't last long as I was suddenly thrown from the room and pressed up against the wall of the hallway. "I told you to stay away from her." Tyler snapped quietly with my shirt in his fists. "Why didn't you tell me who she was if you knew her? How do you know her?" I was getting tired of being manhandled and pushed back. He stumbled a few steps with a look of surprise. My hands slid down the front of my shirt to rub out the lines from his hold. "Did you not read her letter?" He asked with condescension. "Coach finds out it was you, and you can say goodbye to football. He will run you down until you can't walk, let alone play."

A smirk was fighting it's way on her face. "Stop saying that I like him. You've been saying that the whole drive here." "Ssh. The games starting." Emily said as the players came running out. I looked for Tyler - I don't know why but I did. When I spotted him in his red uniform, I couldn't take my eyes off him. He looked gorgeous in it. "Looking at Tyler?" Emily smirked. "No!" I said a bit too quickly. "Uh huh. Sure." Emily smiled. "I'm not!" I cried.

“I know but I will prefer to call you ‘Nic’ just like I did earlier on. I hope that's cool with you?” I blinked and smiled simultaneously. “Sure, it's fine but it reminds me a lot about something and i wouldn't want to talk about it now because it's kinda all lost memory now.” He smiled in return. “It's ok.” And before he could say or do any other thing, I chipped in. “I already know you’re Brad- our star quarterback. The Heisman winner. The guy who basically humiliated the Skyblazers today.” He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. “Guess I’ve made an impression.”

"This season is a breath of fresh air. A new quarterback is in town. He seems to have brought his A game this time. So far, his team is leading this season." A commentator's voice echoed throughout the stadium. "Taylor seems to have finally gotten what he wanted. The way he played last season was totally questionable." He added. "Yes. Gerry. I remember that. He kept playing his teammates as if they were his opponent." Another commentator gave his two scents. "Speaking of which, Bratkowski is not playing this season. Has he finally retired from football? I feel his absence is what made Tylor fill the quarterback spot for the team." Gerry added.
