Then he laughed, the sound low and warm, illuminating my world with its light.
“Good point,” he leaned forward and spoke in a mischievous tone.
“Now, I understand it, little fawn. And trust me, I will not disappoint you…”

The next morning came with a surprise, probably a sign that my day was going to be the best. Outside, the snow fell in thick, soft flakes, covering everything in pristine white.
It wasn’t that I hadn’t seen snow fall before, but this was the first winter I could truly enjoy. No more freezing hands, no icy showers, no shivering in the cold room. Winter has always been my nightmare.
