A Vampire's Mark
They’re flung across the hall, crashing into the wall with bone-cracking force.
Someone fires. I twist, the chain spinning like a fiery shield, melting the bullet midair. Movements sharp, clean, too fast for thought. I strike again, the chains carving arcs of fire through the smoke. Each impact lights the darkness in brief, violent bursts, sparks raining, shadows fleeing.
One man lunges with a blade, but I catch it in my chain’s mouth, twist, and pull. The weapon melts between my flames. He barely has time to scream before the heat swallows him.
