“I know. But it feels… safer this way. Focused. Clear.” He nodded slowly. “I understand. But don’t forget—you have people willing to back you up. Not just professionally, but personally.” I felt a twinge of guilt. Not for needing help—I had accepted that long ago—but for the complicated emotions that surrounded him. For months, I had kept him at a distance, yet he had never overstepped. Now, as we faced Marcus Delgado’s wrath together, I wondered how much longer I could maintain that boundary. --- That evening, news outlets caught wind of Marcus’s attempted counterattack. Headlines splashed across screens:

A murmur ripples again. “This wedding is cancelled.” No tremble.No tears. “Apparently,” I continue, “the groom has prior commitments.” A few nervous laughs. Quickly swallowed. Instead of going to the Justice of the Peace, these two wanted to do it correctly. Neither one of them seemed to be in that big of a rush, but damn the rest of us have been. Either way, I was ready to go back, after all, it didn't hurt so much anymore, it was just quite bothersome. And it was while contemplating a winery in Spain that I received Flavian's call two days ago confirming the date of his wedding to Manu, a wedding where I would be the best man, although I wasn't thrilled about the maid of honor, and that's why I needed to come back and reunite with my friends again. In the end, it was good to receive this call back, I had been away for too long.

“Are you sure? You look a little unsteady. Maybe you need some help.” My pulse spiked. Something’s wrong. I tried to move, but my body felt heavy. Sluggish. My skin tingled strangely as if the heat was pooling under it. The third man smirked. “Have you ever been with three men at once?” My stomach lurched. I was gonna throw up and I would I turned to leave, but a hand gripped my wrist. “Let go,” I snapped, trying to yank my arm away. The second man chuckled, stepping even closer, his breath hot against my cheek. “Don’t worry, sweetheart. It’ll be worth your time… when all of your holes are filled.”

She stated and turned away, ordering her guards to throw me out of the premises. I watched, dazed and humiliated as the gate closed in my face, snickering voices whispered around me. I walked back to my car, my brain on overdrive as I processed what had just happened. As I turned on the car engine, ready to drive away, I noticed Florida and her assistant coming down from a black SUV. A middle aged man stepped down behind them, his hands snaking around Florida's waist as he kissed her cheeks. My eyes blurred and my fist clenched against the steering wheel as I watched her assistant drag her suitcase into the mansion.

I said and left the maroon fang pack house with my pack back to Florida. Together, we began our journey back to Florida, each step bringing us closer to home. Throughout the travels, Lorenzo came to be by my side, offering comfort and companionship. His presence brought a sense of calm amidst the whirlwind of emotions that surrounded us.
