And the best cabbage you’ll find in the whole market.” “Good morning, Farid.” Yasmin greets quietly, her smile warm. “Your carrots always are the best.” She gestures to a bright, orange bunch and adds, “I'll have this bunch of carrots and a cabbage, too.” Farid, never one to miss an opportunity, places the vegetables in her basket with a practiced flourish. “Ten silvers,” he says, lifting his chin as if to say it’s a fair deal. Yasmin raises an eyebrow, crossing her arms in playful challenge. “Ten silvers? You’re robbing me in broad daylight, Farid. I could dig up my own garden and get them for free.” She pouts.

He grabs a carrot and pops it in his mouth. The older male cuffs him upside the head. The youngster, not chastened in the least, leaves with the carrot dangling from his lips like a cigarette. I figure he’s been chased off, but he returns a minute later with a milk crate full of potatoes. He sits down and joins the older male to do the prep work.

"Why do you have to announced it this loud? At least show some shame." He wanted to scold her but he this was only going to make matter worse. Ganice now looked at the things in his cart. "Hm, are you going to eat fried rice in dinner?" She asked him as she went through the groceries. Carrots, peas, half dozen eggs , green onion and rice. Solan did not say anything and pushed his cart while Ganice followed him as she put her hands in the pockets of her trouser. "Do you want to study with me? “I think we could use more fruit.” I spoke as I grabbed some grapes from the shelf. “You guys eat way too much junk.” Scott let out a tired sigh. “I think we have a perfectly healthy diet.” I turned to give him a side eye. “Scott, you’re ninety-nine percent coffee and the only vegetables I’ve seen Hayden eat are deep fried.” I spoke grabbing a bag of l carrots as well. Scott seemed to decide not to argue with me probably realising he was fighting a losing battle.

CJ slings his hand over my shoulder. "You look so amazing that the world stops and stares for a while..." I chuckle. "So you listen to Bruno Mars?" We enter the grocery store that's fully packed from stall to stall. An old couple are the only consumers I see in the entire store. We pick a lot of onions, tomatoes, lettuce, bell peppers, radishes, carrots, garlic, cucumbers, spinach, cabbage, beetroot and brocolli. "Don't you think that's a little too much?" Mommy’s strong, remember?” He sniffled and nodded. “But your face… it looks like it hurts.” I smiled through the pain. “It does a little, but seeing you makes it better.” Caro stood near the doorway, holding a food basket. “Jay insisted we bring food for both of you,” she said with a warm smile. “Thank you, Caro,” I said sincerely. “I helped pack it,” Jay added proudly. “Jollof rice, fried plantain, and some juice!”
