I picked up my spoon hesitantly, took a bite of the vegetables, and felt a different sensation on my tongue. The vegetables were tender, fresh, and perfectly seasoned with a hint of garlic. "It’s so delicious!" I couldn't help but exclaim. Sandy laughed joyfully, "These were your favorite vegetables." My favorite vegetables? I looked at Atlas, seeking confirmation.

She halted the moment she saw me. "Miss, it's good to see you again," Maria huffed with a smile on her face. I returned her homely smile, "Are they troubling you again, Maria?" "No, no. They just refuse to eat their vegetables." I nodded my head in understanding. When I was a kid I evaded my vegetables at all costs. I especially hated peas which meant someone had to pick all the peas out of the mash when serving me. They always tried to sneak in a pea or two as if I were blind and couldn't see it but I suffered it out and tended to swallow it without chewing, and that was not something I would recommend other people do.
