I'm only speeding up its inevitable collapse." She flicked her hand and conjured a wave of dark energy which rushed towards them. Eamon stepped forward, his hands radiating a golden, warm light. "We will not give you victory, Liora. The light still has guardians, and we will fight against you.” She staggered, blind, but let herself be led through it. When light leapt back into existence, she found herself in a thin pipe, walls etched with ancient runes that emitted soft light.

The void in its chest flickered, shrank, and for the first time it recoiled. Mae reached for him, tears streaking her face. “Kaine, stop! You will burn yourself out!” He turned his head slightly toward her, eyes dim but steady. “Then let me.” The light consumed him. It poured from every wound, every crack in his skin, until his body was no more than a vessel of brilliance. The Forgotten shrieked and scattered, their forms unraveling in the radiance. The champion staggered backward, howling as the golden light seared its void heart.

For a moment, the whole yard seemed to vanish; it was only me and the thing before me. “Daughter,” it rasped, each syllable clawing at my ears. “Daughter of light… and shadow. She calls you.” “No,” I whispered, stepping forward despite Darius’s grip. The air reeked of rot, yet I forced myself closer. “She doesn’t own me.” The Forsaken’s chest rattled with what might have been laughter—or simply air tearing through ruined lungs. “She will.” The final word hung in the air like a curse. Then, before anyone could react, the thing convulsed and collapsed, falling into the mud with a sound too heavy for something so hollow.

Every step we took in the narrow corridor was laden with uncertainty; the air grew colder and thicker with every passing moment as if the very stones whispered secrets of a long-forgotten curse. I rode at the head of our group, my senses alert to every sound—a drip of water, the echo of our footsteps, the distant rustle of unseen movements. The dim glow from the altar’s green light had receded, leaving us to navigate by the flicker of our torches and the vague luminescence of ancient runes carved into the walls. I could see my men exchanging uneasy glances, and I knew they too felt the oppressive energy of the Forsaken.

The warmth of the evening air turned cold as Serena stared at the symbol seared into the paper—a jagged moon bleeding black ink, surrounded by thorned runes. Her fingers clenched around it involuntarily. The Forsaken. Once thought annihilated, they were little more than whispers in the dark, monsters parents warned their children about. But Serena knew this wasn’t folklore. It was real. The mark pulsed with the kind of malevolent energy that couldn’t be faked.

The light surged forward, illuminating the battlefield and dispersing the darkness that threatened to engulf us. I felt the warmth of my pack surrounding me, their strength bolstering my resolve as we fought back against the encroaching shadows. As the light clashed with darkness, I turned to Eden, my heart swelling with love and pride. "Stay close to me!" I urged, my voice steady despite the chaos. "We will face this together!" With our powers combined, we pushed back against the darkness, the light illuminating the path to victory. The Black Faes faltered, their dark magic flickering as they struggled against the force of our unity.

I wanted to believe it was real, that there was a future with the three of us in it, but… my selfishness and his inability to bend led us here, didn’t it? Light flickers above me. I wonder if I’ll see Blake here. Isn’t he the God of Death? Isn’t this, wherever I am, his rightful home? The light grows until it’s blinding. Everything goes dark again as muffled voices split the silence–the crumbling of rock and wood. “I HAVE THEM! I HAVE THEM!”

I feel Freya take over all control as I fall into the back of her mind. What the hell is happening? What does she mean we are the descendents of the moon goddess? I feel Freya pushing me all the way out of earshot in her mind, falling into nothingness. I feel sleep taking over as Freya lulls me to sleep. Not fighting it at all, I fall into a quiet sleep.
