Forsaken
I begin moving before I can fully grasp onto my thoughts, fully consider who the owner might be, my instincts taking over to find her, to find my mate.
I feel my chest tighten at the thought. I had a mate. A mate of my own, made for me and perfect for me, somewhere out there, and I wanted nothing more than to lay eyes on her.
My mate.
I had a mate, and she lived literally one door away. I smile at that, oddly pleased that fate was blessing me with such an unexpected situation. Why hadn't I smelled her clearly when I first moved in? Her scent profile was strangely faint from a distance, almost completely masked, but up close like this, it was intoxicating.
