“So, how are you feeling, besides the obvious?” he asked, trying to lighten the mood. “Well, I’m actually pretty hungry right now; I’ve been having a large appetite lately, and I don’t even know how to explain it ,” I said, smiling at the memory of the cookies. “Of course you are!” he said, laughing. “Have you had any of Mrs. Sophie’s famous cookies yet?”
“I sure have,” I said, still smiling. “And they’re as delicious as ever.” “That’s good to hear,” he said, sounding relieved. “I’m glad you’re getting some comfort.” “Me too,” I said, feeling a sense of gratitude for my family.
