There was a time when the sight of her lovely honey-coloured eyes left me weak in the knees, now I want to claw them out of her skull with my bare hands.
“I didn't think you'd come,” I say. “Why didn't you tell me you're here?”
“I wanted to make sure your little side bitch really left.”
“I’m sure she did.”
Harriet nods. “And you are truly alone?”
“You know I am. Are you?”
“I’m not that stupid, Jericho. The last thing you said to me was that you wanted to die so you’d be free of me.”
She raises her arms and four mutants come lumbering out of the swamp, walking straight in our direction. Their eyes are white, sightless, and their skin is greying. “Zombies?” I ask. “Really?”
