Not only was he almost finished with his Bachelor of Science at the community college, but he’d also cut back on the weed and booze so he could help more at The Grind.

That deep, raspy voice filled the room as he sang directly to me. The lyrics were dark and raw — about a good girl losing herself to sin, about chains that felt like freedom, about needing someone so badly it hurt. While he sang, he gripped my hips and slowly rocked me against his thigh.

Frankie pulled the blindfold off my eyes, and I could see the look of pity on his face. He undid everything that was holding me down, and I collapsed into his arms, in pain. Then I saw Corey walk in. He looked at me, then at Rocky. “What the fuck, dude. Were you using me to get to her?” Rocky tried to plead with him, Luca, and Frankie, but I watched as Corey transformed into someone completely different. He balled his fist up and asked his question louder, more demanding. “Fucking answer me.”
