Just as he grabbed my arm and tried to pull me up, I heard a voice.
“Get your hands off her,”
It was followed by a heavy punch that twisted my stomach.
The man stumbled back, clutching his jaw with a curse, his eyes wild with rage. The music kept pounding, and the crowd barely noticed what had just erupted in our corner of the club.
I went still, my breath caught in my throat, until I saw him.
The one who’d thrown the punch.
Freddy.
He stood there, tall and unshaken, his fist still clenched, his chest rising and falling with controlled fury. His eyes were locked on the man as though daring him to make another move.
