I grin sheepishly, “Guilty. But I already bought them for you.” Her eyes grow big. I kiss her forehead and I walk away. I carry her box of books that I placed in my office. “What is that?” she asks when she notices me placing the box on the small coffee table. “Books?” I answer. She opens the box and stops. Her brows furrow, then she stands straight from her bending posture. “Will you please explain why all these have my home mailing address?” she asks, pointing her finger to the box. I shrug and feel I’m running out of words. How am I going to explain this to her? I wasn’t thinking about it when I took the box from my office.

"Thank you." I imagined myself falling into an opened section of the floor, so I made sure that I was walking on a stable track, and that each of my stride were careful. But as I turned to my left where the old boxes of unused stuffs were made into a mountain, I heard a little squeak, and a colored rat ran pass my way. It startled me that I almost lose balance. I ignored the rat, and walked to the boxes. Every box had a label. There was a box of old blankets that was spotted by holes and stained. A box of more books that did not fit the shelves of the library anymore. A box of forgotten toys. And a box of our old uniform.

Before I could protest, he slipped his free hand into mine and helped me to stand up. Dragging me to the parking lot of the college, he dropped the book on the hood of the car, moved to the back seat and latched open the door. Closing it shut, he revealed a box, grinning and wriggled his eyebrows. "For you." He advanced the box to me. I didn't have to guess anything. I had seen the similar packaging two days ago in my house. Another book box. Why was he doing this? Couldn't he see I loathed books? Couldn't he see they were making me frustrated with everything? Couldn't he imagine how things were getting too much?

It can apparently hold over 20,000 books, that should keep Amelia satisfied for a year or two. When I walk back over to her box in hand, I can tell she's trying to keep the excitement off her face by biting down on her bottom lip. She doesn't like being taken care of, but I'm a provider and it's something she's getting better at dealing with. "Thank you" She mumbles shyly as I hand her the box. She takes it carefully from me like it's some precious artefact that she's terrified of breaking. "Come on baby, lets go set it up in the lounge" I say as I wrap my arm around her shoulders and guide her towards the escalators.

He sighs deeply, sitting on the edge of the bed, putting the box between us, “You are slowly leaning towards your wolf side and that is a good thing.” I don’t say anything because I don’t want to know what that means. “This is for you,” He pushes the box to me, “I picked up a few books from the library for you.” I flash him a small sincere smile as I pull the box to myself, opening it as I take out the books. “How are you faring?” Cyprian inquires friendly, drawing me in a way that makes me want to open up, search my deepest feelings and share it with him.

Then a boisterous laugh filled the room. Irina pouted. Coughing, Nieal tried to stop the laugh. He coughed few times before he could speak again. “I’m sorry.” He said. “But, books for sale?” He chuckled. “Not in my town, glassy.” Still pouting, Irina didn’t say a word. That made Nieal coughed again to cover his laugh. “You know I will never allow that, right? Everyone in this town have free access to the books that they wanted to read—” He paused a second. Then emphasized. “—in the library.”

Now, we just can’t fail. I sighed, sometimes arguing with her was moot. Leaning back, I didn’t really need to do any of my homework anymore. I could look up some practice tests for the GED, but I was too tired to start down that rabbit hole. Scrolling through my emails, I saw one from the local pack library. Miss Cross, We were able to get the information that you requested. We have set aside the books for you to browse at your leisure. They will be held till the end of the week and you can request them at the front desk.

As I made sure everything was in its proper place, my mind wandered, and suddenly, a thought appeared. The strange box in the royal library. “Your Majesty, do you know anything about the box in the royal library?” “Excuse me?” Asher asked, and his eyebrows creased together. “The box in the library,” I repeated, and then I clarified. “The one in the private room?” Asher still didn’t seem to understand. “I don’t know of any such box,” he said, and he pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers. “Describe it to me.”
