I shake his hand and return to my mate. Nothing will keep me from her tonight. Not even Alpha business. Paige and I leave our families and mingle through the party. It’s her birthday, but everyone is whispering about me. Guilty waves flow through me. I didn’t intend to make her night about me, but Paige doesn’t seem to mind. She keeps hold of my hand and continues to mingle. Paige comes to a stop near a blonde petite wolf. They give each other an excited hug. “This is Val, my best friend.” Paige turns to introduce me. I look at Val to introduce myself when I see an angry wolf coming up behind Paige.

“You are tired, and we are done for today.” She frowned, and I kissed her forehead. “Remember our deal.” “Fine,” she sighed and let go of me. “But we are continuing tomorrow.” I nodded and smiled at her. “Definitely.” “Gabriel,” I heard someone calling me. I turned around and saw Patricia waving me over. I took Aria’s hand in mine, and we walked back to Patricia. Nick was in his wolf form, practicing next to Annie. Annie’s wolf was amazing. I can’t believe I haven’t seen her wolf before. Her name is Amy, and her fur is light brown. She was so much smaller than Nate, but she was a great fighter. I wouldn’t want to go against her.

"I love you, mom." I could hear dad yelling in the background. "I love you, too, dad. Talk to you later." Clicking my phone off, I wandered back to my room upstairs to read a couple of chapters in my latest novel. It didn't seem very long after I got swept up in The Hobbit before my phone was ringing once again. It seems I'm just getting increasingly popular these days. "Hello?" I called out as I put my phone on speaker. A hushed voice whispers over the phone, "Ciprian?"

he said, stumbling back a few steps with the force of my embrace. I released him from my hold, grinning from ear to ear. “That was awesome,” I said. “I feel like going for another run already.” “Of course you do.” He chuckled, linking our arms together. Patrick was the same age as me, an omega wolf, something that would suggest low status but we’ve never cared about things like that in our pack. He was probably my closest friend, definitely the one who has to suffer through whatever I was obsessed with at the moment.

Gabby informed him. Xavier didn’t seem surprised; instead, he looked amused. “Tell me, what has she done this time?” he inquired, smiling at Gabby, but she didn’t return his smile. When he noticed how serious she looked, his smile faded. “Is it that serious?” “She strayed into Dark Moon Pack, and the Alpha has her,” Gabby responded, and Xavier chuckled softly. “Is that why you’re so worried? Calm down, Gabby. I’ll send my men out. Alpha Aeros is an old friend, and he’ll be more than willing to cooperate.”

Mike nods at me and we leave the building together. Zeus and I are both excited to get to Patty’s to see our girls. I feel like I am speeding like a mad man but only crawling like a turtle. It seems like it takes forever to get there. Finally I pull up to Patty’s. The diner is packed, and I see Patty inside hustling about. I look into the surrounding trees and see the glowing eyes of several of my pack members, in wolf form, patrolling the space to protect their Luna.

Mason spots the patrol first. ‘Alpha, there, near that fallen log! The patrol!’ ‘Stop yelling! We can hear you! Idiot.’ Chastises Jason. He and Mason are litter mates, both with brown fur with white patches on their heads and paws. Mason also has a white patch on his tail. It’s the only difference between them. As we get closer to the patrol, I notice their agitation and it’s unnerving. What is it about this human? ‘Alpha.’ Greets one of the guards with a bow. I turn to him.

Liam pov I was patrolling the outer boundaries of Fireside and Paw pack territories when I caught the scent - vanilla and wildflowers, mixed with the metallic tang of blood. My wolf surged forward instantly, recognizing something vital even before his human mind understood. I found my mate and she was hurt.

My breath hitched. White Paw had been a small pack with barely a city block of territory. That territory, though, was adjacent to both the Crescent Moon and Lunar Crater packs, who were much larger and notoriously competitive against each other. I’d been in the midst of wedding planning at the time that everything happened, but that didn’t mean I didn’t remember the headlines.
