Minus forty-two.
"The atmospheric collapse is reversing," Sarah said. "Should stabilize around minus twenty in a week. Maybe rise to zero in two weeks."
"So the worst is over?"
"The worst of the cold, yes. But we've lost four people in twelve days. At this rate, even if the temperature rises, we'll lose twenty more before we can safely go outside."
That night, three people developed fevers. Sarah's brother quarantined them in a corner.
"It's influenza. Probably spread from one of the children. In normal conditions, not dangerous. Here, with everyone's immune system compromised, it could kill many."
