He looked at me. He moved his eyes from the point past my shoulder.

Seconds tick by as he stares at him and then suddenly he stands and when his eyes meet mine again, i can swear I see watery streaks at the corners. "Take me to her" he mutters. • • • •

Too much exchange of saliva. My eyes went on ahead and to a corner. He has been standing there for a while. I noticed because in the entire movement of people, sighting one person that was standing still in a corner was unusual. I can't see his face from here with the hat he has on but I felt a pull toward him. His hands were in the pockets of the leather jacket he wore which was zipped halfway.

I feel ashamed doing this, but I don’t have any other options. I slowly took my eyes off the ground and they met his. The corner of his lips tipped up for a meaningful smirk. “I don’t care..!”

That is when I saw him. He was sitting in the far corner of the back seat, which meant he had been there the entire time, which meant he had watched the whole thing happen from ten feet away with his hands rested loose on his thighs and his face arranged into an expression that was not quite blank and not quite curious but something that lived in the territory between the two, something that looked disturbingly like a man watching a situation unfold exactly the way he expected it to, and his eyes, dark and very still, moved to mine the moment I looked at him and did not move away.

When I looked up- indeed a man was standing quietly in the corner. His grey orbs observed us holding an emotion I couldn't quite detect. My eyes swept over him taking in his slightly bulky build and face; wavy brown hair, slightly crooked nose, firm square jaw, pink thin shaped lips and. . . . white. My eyes hardened, his presence making me weary of him being in the same room as her.

It was a small treat, a brief break from all the things bothering me. While I was enjoying my unexpected feast, I noticed someone entering the store from the corner of my eye. I looked up, but they were looking in a different direction, so I couldn't see their face clearly. They didn't wait to be served and just walked ahead, which was kind of unusual and caught my attention.

I steady myself, swallowing hard, keeping my emotions locked tight where they can’t spill over. From the corner of my eye, I catch him watching. His expression is unreadable, and a frown tugs at his mouth. Almost as if he's displeased with what he's witnessing.

It was the same with his vision. Out of the corner of his eye, he could almost see something black and shadowy hovering around his head. It wasn't purple, and it was the only thing he could see that wasn't. However, he could only see it out of the corner of his eye. The moment he turned to look directly at it, it disappeared. Assuming of course that he wasn't imagining it. Something about it made him decidedly uncomfortable, depressed, and just plain listless.
