I teased back in a mock annoyance. He produced a set of keys from his pocket and unlocked the shed. Pushing the door open he pulled a basket from inside and held it in front of me. The sun started piercing through the dense fog, making me shiver from the sudden heat I had been missing. I looked in the basket to see a bunch of seed packets. “So we’ve already started sprouting some vegetables for this season. But I’d love your input on fruits for the next? What’s your favorite fruit?” he asks and then quickly adds, “And please don’t name something that grows on a tree - we’re just not there yet.”

Before long, their little mouths were stained with blueberry juice. Even Atlas's lips had a hint of blue. We indulged in blueberries, picked some mangoes, pomegranates, star fruits, lychees, and even peaches... All the fruits were large and round, especially the lychees. I tasted one, and it was sweet and refreshing. I had a sudden idea and quickly had the gardener pick a basket full of fruits. Atlas was puzzled and asked, "What are you going to do with that?"

I squealed excitedly. “Does fruit excite you that much?” he questioned with a smile. “It’s only the best thing I’ve ever put into my mouth.” His eyes widened, and I scoffed, “Goddess you men,” I shook my head jokingly, rushing towards the stand. The blush that tinted his cheeks made me giggle. “Mornin’,” an older gentleman with a straw hat smiled, “What can I get for yer’?” My eyes widened at the selection of blueberries, strawberries, grapes, apples, even tomatoes and coconuts. This man had anything and everything you could think of.

I took a look at the contents in the basket,they were yummy. We took a nice spot,I spread the blanket and we sat down,there were fruits.... Strawberry!! A plate of fruit salad separate,peanut butter jar,brownies,slices of different flavours of cake,salads,cookies,muffins,hamburgers,hollandia yogurts,Snickers,McVities butter shortbread biscuits... My favs!!! Bottles of vitamilk and donuts. "Can we finish this?."I asked. "I don't know,we can give the leftovers to them and yeah, please,remind me to order pizza and sharwama on our way home."He told me.

I felt Nathan relax a little, his shoulders dropping as he took in the scene. “I’ll grab a basket,” he said, heading toward a stack of wooden baskets. Over the next hour, we meandered through the aisles, filling our basket with fresh fruits, vegetables, and handmade treats to bring home for Clint and Angela and all of our other friends. I even found a little jar of honey that was sure to be a hit with the twins, who hadn’t tasted honey since that day we took them to poke the honeycombs.

“What do you think I’m going to do? Today, I have to eat the fruits on this farm! Brothers, let’s go inside.” The farmers panicked. There were just a few of them. How could they stop such a large group of people? However, they also could not let Flying Rooster and his gang get inside. A farmer quickly said, “No, please! Don’t you just want to eat some fruits? Okay, I’ll go and pluck some for you now. Whatever you want to eat, I’ll go and pluck for you. I won’t charge you any money. What do you think about that?”

John even picked up the scattered basket and fruits that were tossed out by Elisa. A fruit basket cost a couple of hundred bucks. The Hunts would rather eat the fruits than give them to Serenity. At the fruit section, I stood there too long, trying to figure out if oranges or tangerines had more vitamin C. “You look like you’re about to fight those apples,” someone said. I turned. The attendant—a guy in his twenties with a name tag that said Caleb (of all names)—was leaning against a display with a grin. I tried to smile back but my lips felt too stiff for me to. “You shopping for a sick girlfriend?” he asked, nodding at the mountain of food in my basket. Heat rushed up my neck. “She’s not— I mean, yeah, she’s sick, but it’s not like—” I stopped, realizing how defensive I sounded. “I’m just… making sure she’s okay.”

Vangie’s body felt heavy when she woke up. It was already late at night when they finished, so she and Bert decided to stay at the farm. He still needed to sell the lukba fruits they harvested tomorrow. They had left the sacks of fruit in front of the house for now.
