I make my way to the fruit stand, exchanging a subtle sign with the vendor. “I’ll take a basket of persimmons, hibiscus, apples, and watermelon,” I say. Rook POV Kade is standing at the counter, fully focused, arranging fruit on a plate like it’s a goddamn art project. A full spread of Christmas-themed food covers the table, pancakes dusted with powdered sugar to look like a snowman, a Santa face made out of whipped cream, raspberries, and banana slices, and a Christmas tree crafted from carefully placed kiwi slices with pomegranate seeds acting as ornaments.
