Their eyes met. Gold. Fierce. Afraid. For her. A word slammed into her mind with the force of a falling star. Mine. Her breath hitched. And deep inside her, something ancient opened its eyes. The pain surged— —and Lena screamed as the red moon burned her world into something new.

Alecto sighed in relief and looked up at the full moon that was beginning to appear. Everyone present stopped what they were doing to look at the moon. Rendall and Helia smiled at each other. They looked back at their loved ones. Selene, whose stomach was bulging, stood beside Brient, her mate. Helia and Rendall smiled at them and they smiled back. Rendall's mother, Evelina who was still a Luna, stood beside her second-chance mate, Alpha Montague, the Alpha of the Full Moon pack.

Deep within Sixth Mountain, in a quaint courtyard, Celeste sat cross-legged in front of a cauldron, her gaze focused intently on the situation inside. "This time, I must advance to become a seventh-grade alchemist!" Celeste's divine sense firmly locked onto the changes inside the cauldron as she contemplated silently.

“Not to mention the parents. Both of them are now silent. House arrest is the most innocent thing that girls could get for spending the night away from home. - Then we should try to get out, - Leah was clearly trembling, from cold or fear. It's just damn dark... At that moment, as if in response to the girl's words, the moon came out from behind the clouds. Full and surprisingly bright. Sammy's breath caught at the beauty of the heavenly body, especially at a moment like this. “Wow…” Leah said. The full moon seemed to impress even her. - Like a natural spotlight? - And in fact, it became a little lighter. Sammy looked down and found she could see her hands. Let's try to go back to...

- We don't get trapped in old and absurd traditions. — Would you be willing to prove what you're saying? — the elder challenges. — I am! — Then so be it, — Paul sentences. The Elder council leader had remained silent because he wanted to see how far the young Alpha was willing to go, but he knew that if he didn't have him, that meeting would end with more than one wolf in regrettable conditions. — If in the next three full moons, you haven't managed to get your pack to accept the Luna destined to them, the human will die, and according to the law, you will be banished, not only from your pack but from any connection with wolves altogether.

The physician's eyes widened in terror as he realized the gravity of his situation, but before he could utter another word, I pressed the cold steel against his throat. "Listen carefully," I hissed, my voice low and menacing. "I am feeling benevolent today. You have until the next full moon to find a cure for the corruption. Fail to do so, and both you and your family can forget seeing the next full moon. Am I understood?" The physician nodded frantically, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. "Yes, Alpha Hazel," he choked out, his voice barely above a whisper. "We will do everything in our power to find a cure."

The elders stood in a line at the front of the chapel, cloaked in white and silver. In their hands, they held the sacred tools of Luna’s Promise: the dagger, the binding cloth, and the chalice made of gold and rubies, a large moonstone gleaming in its center. Luna decided, "everything changes." What Luna didn't know was that a pair of golden eyes watched her from a high window in the pack house. Alpha Vincent Blackthorne stood in the shadows of his study, having witnessed his son's betrayal through the pack bonds. "So it begins," he murmured to his wolf, Storm. "The Moon Goddess works in mysterious ways." He'd been watching Luna Silverwood for far longer than anyone knew, and not for the reasons anyone would suspect. Tomorrow's Moon Festival would indeed change everything but perhaps not in the way Luna expected.

I heard a loud taunt, but didn’t pay any attention to it. “Don’t worry, Vera! We are right, so we don’t have to fear anything. The Moon goddess isn’t unjust,” Xela assured me, and I nodded. The alchemist started chanting ancient spells, and an eerie hush fell over. Goosebumps erupted all over my skin, and I started taking deep breaths. After a few more spells, he handed me a white marble bowl filled with green liquid.

I ignore their stares and walk toward an empty wooden bench near the back. "Wait, Zafira!" a female classmate calls out quickly. "Someone spilled caustic lunar sap on that bench! It has not been cleansed yet!" I pause, glancing at her. "Thank you." The she-wolf’s cheeks flush red as she lowers her eyes in submission. "It... it is nothing." Since the new moon cycle has just begun, we only have core alchemy lectures today. As soon as the final bell rings, I gather my scroll cases and prepare to leave.
