I slowly lifted the lid of the box and a small gasp escaped from my lips as I looked at the wind chime in the box. A smile instantly made its way on my face as I touched the cold surface with my fingers. It made a soft noise when I tried to remove it from the box. There were three golden rectangular tubes in the middle with small stars and moons dangling around them unevenly. The moons represented every shape of the moon while the stars were shining brightly around it.

Not only that, but it was a blue moon. A shiver went down his spine as he started walking back in the direction of his cabin. He didn't know why but he felt like he was being watched. It was only a few minutes until the feeling was confirmed when a bush rustled a few feet away from him. He lifted his nose in the air and sniffed around. Nothing smelled out of the ordinary and he let himself relax just a little. He closed his eyes and opened up his ears to listen to the world around him. As the words sank in, the artifact in Luna’s hands began to pulse with light, spilling its glow across the clearing. “What’s happening?” Alec asked, shielding his eyes. The woman turned to Luna, her voice urgent now. "It's your choice, Luna. Trust the relic. Trust the moon." Before Luna could say anything, the light erupted outward, blinding everyone in the clearing.

Elysia’s POV Four months later. I gently stroked my round belly, feeling the powerful life growing inside me. The life inside me was pure Alpha. I could feel its power humming in my blood. “The Moon-Essence Herb is at the auction today,” Adrian whispered in my ear. “It’s very good for a pup’s soul development.” “Really?” My eyes lit up. “Then we have to get it.” The herb was incredibly rare, said to grow only in the deep mountains on a full moon, and it was known to strengthen an Alpha pup’s soul.

[KARA/RUELLE] I light the stub of a candle and place it beside the window. I watch the shadows stretch across the mud walls like silent witnesses. And I pray. I pray to the Moon Goddess for Magnus, for my mother, for whatever pieces of my old life still remain. And then I look at the clay pot. The wolf painted on it looks nothing like me. But I know it’s me. While Alec’s gaze is away, I reach for the moonroot tonic in my apron and mix it with water. I focus on how bitter it feels against my tongue, and try not to think of what I’m actually doing.
