Alex pushes himself up slowly, calm and relaxed. A grin sitting on his face. Blood coats at the side of his lower lips and he wipes a thumb over it. “You got me this time, brother.” He says, eyes beaming with amusement. His gaze darkens. "But wait when I'm done with you.”

“You are my brother, Desmond. That is all you will ever be to me. You need to get these romantic ideas out of your head right now.” A loud ripple of gasps moved through the hall like a wave. People started whispering to one another, their voices sounding like the buzzing of angry bees. The crowd felt amazed and horrified by what I was saying. To call the future Alpha my brother was a slap in the face to the entire pack.

But Zia couldn’t be approached. “Zia, this is your brother.” Edward didn’t give up. “Look over here!” Zia did not respond, but slowly, she lifted her face to look at Edward. “Your brother can get angry, but can’t hit you. You remember that?” Edward coaxed. Zia finally responded with a slight nod, and her gaze met Edward’s gentle smile, hoping it would make Zia feel better. The fear on her face didn't disappear, but she raised her hand and touched Edward's face slightly to confirm that the person in front of her was really her brother.

"Edward, you and Nicklaus always have a good relationship. You should go and persuade him later." Edward neither agreed nor refused. He only said, "Cyrus is his biological brother." Edward emphasized the words “biological brother” when he spoke. Frederick's expression changed slightly when he heard that. He stared at Edward for a few seconds before saying, "You already have known about it?" Edward did not say anything in reply. Seeing Edward keeping silent, Frederick smacked his hand down on to the table and said angrily, "Edward Arnoult, I am asking you a question."

Vanessa POV I hadn’t seen Edward’s older brother proper since before Liam was born, and he looked exactly like Edward, only rougher around the edges, his eyes less guarded, his jaw constantly set like he was holding in secrets. The two brothers were like two halves of a puzzle that never quite fit. But somehow, they always found a way to make it work. The evening came quickly, now it was time for Mandi and the kids to return back to UK. Edward had an emergency meeting so he won’t be following us to the airport. Tobias offered to take his place and accompany us instead.
