As the kids disappeared up the stairs, the tension snapped, and without warning, I lunged at my brother. My hands wrapped around his throat, fury driving every muscle in my body. But as I tightened my grip, Alphonce didn’t even flinch. Instead, he smiled, a twisted, mocking grin that only fueled my rage. He didn’t care—about me, about the pack, about anything. He was here for his own reasons, and he wasn’t afraid. It was none of my business whether they hated each other but there was something I didn't understand. "If you wanted him dead, why didn't you hire an assassin." He glanced over his shoulder, a sinister smile curving across his face as he ran his tongue against his teeth. "It would take more than an assassin or knives to kill a beast like my brother."

I feel the heat flooding my cheeks as his eyes search my face for answers. Eyes that feel familiar yet unknown... How am I meant to answer that? Edric is pale. He didn’t even look this shocked when I screamed at the king. He storms into the study and goes straight for a bottle of liquor. I close the door behind us, and gesture at Adrian to take a seat, sitting next to him while we watch as Edric pours some of the whisky in a glass and swill it around his mouth, grimacing as he swallows it. Another sip, and then he puts the glass to the side. Standing next to his desk, he pushes his fingers into the top, staring at Adrian, the brother he didn’t know he has. “Who’s your Alpha?” Edric asks, his tone calm like always, but I can see the turmoil churning in his eyes.

Aristo answered then the king is walking towards them. "Your majesty." Aristo bows and walks away to give the siblings some privacy to be together again. "Little sister, how are you?" The king asked then caressed Alexis' hair with a smile. "I'm fine, brother. I'm sorry if I came here unconscious, brother." Alexis stated. "It's fine, little sister. Don't worry because the Daemonium brothers told me everything what happened. Before I forgot, my name is Alfonso De Luca." He introduced himself.

In lycanthrop culture wardrobe malfunctions such as these were not a very unusual occurrance. "I think it's kind of punk." spoke a powerful voice from behind me. I turned to face the towering figure of the Alpha himself. I barely reached the height of his glistening bronze shoulders and Oakly and I both stood there gawking. In his musceled arms he held Eli, my least favorite pup. "I heard you met my brother Eli," Alpha Berion shook his head in annoyance at his little brother, "He's always been a trouble maker. Youngest children. You can't take them anywhere."

My entire body stiffened as he forced my face upward slowly. His fingers were large against my skin. Warm. Dangerously steady. For a long moment, he simply stared at me silently. Studying me.
