A duck, and a frog…" he began, and I paid attention, but by the time he was done, I burst into a shrill laughter I had fueled myself instead of Titan's joke. Anna had definitely fallen for Titan. Even though I didn't get the essence of the joke, she was still laughing. That alone was funny and had me laughing uncontrollably. Titan told my jokes, and I laughed not because of them, but because of Anna's reaction to them. To her, everything was funny, and they made a beautiful couple from where I watched them. I could see the Exodus' heavy shotguns smoking through the hole in the Titan's hull as it collapsed forward, crippled. "Two down!" Laura shouted. The Titans were in full retreat now, leaping backwards with reckless abandon to escape the thunderous shotgun blasts as Martin drew near. Laura laughed. "We've scattered the enemy!" she called. She laughed again, as if she'd had a wonderful realization. "Hey boys, I'm coming your way!"
