Fated In Darkness
The fluorescent lights blinked awake, throwing the hall into a harsh, clinical brightness that made everything—the desks, the scratched floors, the pale faces around me—feel suddenly too real.
The room burst into scattered conversation.
Laughter. Scoffs. The snap of closing notebooks.
I sat still, numb, while the noise washed over me like a tide I didn’t belong to.
"Come on, really?" a guy in the back called out, his voice carrying easily. "A bloodline of supernatural hybrids hiding among us? Cool story, but c’mon."
Another chuckled, shaking his head. "Yeah, drinking blood, walking in the sun? What is this, Vampire Superman? No way."
