Life’s so unfair, man. “What does a spoon matter when we’re literally stuck in the middle of the woods with invisible monsters, shady, bad men and whatever else creeps around here? Can you please, for once, use your brain and kick some sense in the gear?” He whisper-hisses, so red in the face, he reminds me of a tomato. “You could join a casting for vegetable commercials looking like this,” I remark and laugh at the brilliant joke my brain just reacted. Shit, am I not the funniest guy out there? Look at me - sense of humor, looks, body and an impressive spoon collection, I have it all, damn it. No wonder my little vixen couldn’t deny me.

"I knew right then she wasn't cut out for the big leagues." That was a recital when I was eight years old. It was my first time facing such a large audience, and I did get stage fright. But Rhys was the first one to rush onto the stage to comfort me back then. He told me, "Maeve, you played wonderfully. Those people just don't understand music." Now he was using it to humiliate me. Laughter echoed through the room, and my cheeks burned. He was mocking me in public, turning my past humiliation into a punchline.

I felt a warmth spread through me. These moments felt precious. To, like, de stress?” I was wary. “Fun?” The concept felt alien. Fun was a luxury I’d never known. “Yeah! Like....” Rachel rummaged in her oversized, brightly colored bag that seemed to contain everything but a kitchen sink. She pulled out a small, sleek tablet. “I could show you some hilarious cat videos! Or, oh! Better yet! I have this app that makes your face do weird things. It’s totally stupid, but it always makes me laugh.”

But then, something came over him, and the laughter bubbled right on out. It was an extraordinary thing actually… that he could find anything funny right now, with so much going on. The fact that it was his vehicle getting annihilated, well that was just plain insane. But he had pictured her laughing and snorting, running around and trying to be quiet while abusing his hummer… and that was just about the funniest shit he’d ever imagined.

For the next few minutes, the conversation shifted to lighter topics. They told me funny stories about things that had happened around the house, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I actually laughed. Their stories were filled with small, humorous mishaps—like the time the gardener accidentally watered Mr. Dela Cruz's shoes or when a squirrel ran into the kitchen, causing panic among the staff. Their lively chatter made me forget, even if just for a little while, about all the chaos happening around me. It was like a brief escape, a reminder that life could still have moments of joy, even in the middle of a storm.

Everyone just laughed like I'm just some kind of a psychopath, what's funny to them, they were laughing and pointing hands, and worse of it the subjects were laughing too, maybe I was stupid for talking without understanding anything, I shouldn't have let my curiosity get the better of me.

And so, on and on ,like the osscilation of a pendulum, the disheartening piece of my bio churned while the sands of time dripped slowly and slowly as it watched my narration irks the soul of the spectators.
