That you're good at," my mother-in-law, Victoria Grant, said this with her lips puckered as if she'd caught a foul smell. Lucas Reed—my husband—had just slid a five-carat diamond ring onto my finger when she cut in. A strange chill ran through me. My hand, whole and unbroken, rested in front of me as if nothing had ever happened.

Karica's POV We removed the lid of the square box Xyn had given me and inside lay an exquisite amethyst jewellery set embedded in sterling silver, with matching earrings and bracelet. The amethysts sparkled under the pale light of the car and I was mesmerised. "It's very beautiful, thank you," I stole a glance at him and he was watching me with a satisfied smile.

The lines are simple and allow the gold to shine. “Garnets?” I ask, unsure of the stone. They are deeply red, like the seeds of the pomegranate. “Yes! It’s good to know your gemstones! I always know them because they look like pomegranate seeds, and they shine more brilliantly at night.”

“Okay. But nothing too flashy.” We settled on a gorgeous platinum ring with a rare light blue diamond as the center stone. It matched the color of one of her right eye perfectly. The aquamarine was surrounded by darker sapphires which really made the color of the gem shine. The band itself was thin and was the perfect compliment to her long fingers and graceful hands. It wasn’t too showy, but very elegant, much like Kacela herself.

He was not exaggerating his reaction. As we slowly approached the huge ballroom, I began to feel out of place. Vincent stopped the car for the valet to park. We both alighted the car. I never thought that I'm going to ask a woman to marry me. I don't know but I got mesmerized when I first saw Amethyst before. There's something in her eyes that hit the deepest inside of me. And every time that I saw her and our daughter, they are like telling me that I should change somehow. So, I don't know but I think I am doing it even though I don't really know if I really did it well.
