Warriors reached for weapons they had set aside for dancing. My breath caught. “What is happening?” Danger, my wolf answered at once, no hesitation now. Not memory. Not vision. Real danger. The gates exploded inward. Armored soldiers stormed through in brutal formation, shields marked with a blazing star sigil carved across the steel. The Star Pack. I knew that mark from whispered warnings and old stories. Second most powerful. Known for leaving no survivors when they made a statement. For a moment my mind refused to understand why they were here.

Ren muttered, his finger tightening on the trigger. Suddenly, a heavy, metallic footstep echoed through the chamber. From the shadows behind the crystal, a figure stepped forward. It wasn't a faceless golden knight. It was a Warden. The Warden was twice the size of a normal avatar, clad in heavy, blocky armor that looked like server towers bolted together. Its head was a blank monitor screen, glowing with a menacing red eye. It held a massive, two-handed energy hammer. BOSS DETECTED: BASTION WARDEN (FIREWALL PROTOCOL).

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth before disappearing almost instantly. “It won’t last.” I hated how relieved that tiny expression made me feel. I crossed my arms. “Fine. Kael. Start talking.” The wind shifted between us, colder now. “You know the story they tell about the Guardians?” he asked. I nodded slowly. “They’re chosen to protect the balance between creation and ruin.” “That’s the version meant for children.” Something uneasy twisted in my stomach. “What’s the real version?” Kael’s gaze lifted to mine again. “The Guardians were never meant to destroy ruin,” he said quietly. “They were created to contain it.”

Aside from being unusually long, they were curved, too—like the claws of a cat. “Stay here,” Mei said. “I’ll give a signal when it’s safe to follow.” Two guards were patrolling the corridor that followed the hallway. Mei took down the first guard by slashing through his neck with her claws before moving on to the second guard. She moved so swiftly and silently that the second guard didn’t even notice her before it was too late. As Jade watched, she couldn’t help but compare Mei to a hunting tiger—agile, quiet, and precise. “You’re really good,” Jade said in admiration right after Mei had made her tenth kill.

“The day has not come when you need help. I will be watching from my quarters. I am casting the barrier spell from there. Asher, The Warrior Guardian, is a taker of lives. I don’t want mine to be next.” He pulled Marina close to him so he could see the truth in her eyes. “Coward! So that’s it then? Put the barrier up and hide in your quarters till it’s done?” She looked away from him. Legarde releases his grip. “Then, why agree to this?” “Those are my orders, my Lord commands it.” “Get the barrier up on my signal.” Legarde turned his back to her and stomped towards the cave, trying to think of the exact moment when he became a Guardian exterminator.

I said shaking my head, “Gateway? What, gateway? And what union?” “A gateway that passes between the worlds to this one; each world has hidden portals, and each gateway has guardians. The Weston’s are the guardians of the one near here. Not only are they guardians, but they are also our protectors.” She looked me in the eyes when she added, “Rayna, this cannot be repeated...not even to your friends. Do you understand?” I nodded my head slowly. All of what was said seems so unbelievable. “What Union?” I asked again sounding a little choked up. It was now beginning to make sense.

His fear of these two witches magicks warring with his need to stay close to his mate. Astrid reached out and lay a hand on his thick, sinewy forearm. "Wait, Warrior. There are things we must discuss first. Plans to be made." Brand huffed. "I have no plans that involve witches. My only plans involve getting myself somewhere safe until I can figure out how to get back to my ti…uh, home." "Ahh, but I know your other secret, Brandur the Destroyer. You already let it slip, remember? Besides, the Spirit has shown me. You are not from this time, are you?"

“Four.” The lives of innocent people are on the line. “Three.” The honor of every warrior on both sides is riding on the defeat of one pack and the victory of the other. “Two.” The outcome from today's events would either clear a path to my revenge or be the driving point to my downfall. “One…” “Wait!” I paused in my words and we all turned out heads to the young warrior who stood 3 feet away from us. Sweat covered his skin and heavy pants fell from his lips. He’s one of the warriors we left behind at the pack.

He said and the warrior nodded his head. He wouldn't dare do that if he still values his life. He knew how short tempered their Alpha's twin brother was and he didn't want to anger him on his arrival to the park house. The warrior ordered the other warrior standing by the gate to open the gates and not to a minute the huge gates began to slide to the side.

He had to be taught a lesson. I looked up through the window of our carriage and I could see Alpha Grayson pack compound gate in sight. Right at the front stood ten guards, all armed to the teeth with dangerous silver weapons. That was why I came to him first. He was the only alpha whose pack was blessed with silver. He was also the main supplier of all the weapons that all of the pack warriors used. Being gifted with that much silver made them to be a little immune to it thus making them the one of the strongest packs in all of the supernatural world.
