Willa’s eyes widen briefly, but her expression softens again.
“Because I think that house might be haunted by Iris’ spirit,” I confess, grimly.
She regards me quietly. Not reproachful. Thoughtful. “I’ve seen many things in this world, witches and their ancient covens. And I’ve heard that ghosts can sometimes find us, just as we find them. Maybe you’re right. Maybe Iris’ ghost found you… because you found her.”
I nod absently, her words unsettling yet oddly comforting.
The door slams open. Gerald storms inside, eyes wide, frantic. The moment his gaze locks on mine, my breath catches and my heart leaps.
