These were part of their team who come to rescue them. That’s when he prayed in relief that they could get free. There was a rescue coming. It was possible to leave this hellhole.

I yank my arm free, adrenaline pumping through my veins. In the scuffle, something falls from my bag, skittering across the pavement. My phone. Shit. No time to pick it. I turn and sprint down the street, lungs burning, heart hammering, weaving between cars and people without looking back. The only thing that matters is getting away. Far, far away. Before they catch me. Before they drag me somewhere even worse.
