The echoes the Crone guarded. They made no sound. They rose from the water and walked toward the shore, passing through the Hounds’ line as if the soldiers were made of smoke. A Hound fired a dart straight through a ghost’s chest. Nothing happened. The ghost stopped in front of the man, reached out a glowing hand, and touched his forehead. The Hound screamed. He dropped his rifle and clawed at his head. He fell to his knees as images of ancient battles, dragon fire, and dying wolves filled his mind.

He shut his eyes tight and clenched his fist tightly in horror. The dream filled his head. What he could see was those dark shadows disappearing and the white angel flying away with Dae. He flicked opened his eyes. The vehicle reached a crypt and suddenly one of the hitchhiking ghosts hopped into the vehicle and people screamed at the top of their lungs. Soon the ghost disappeared. Aroon was now shivering and sweating uncontrollably and Oak noticed it.
