The wind whispered through the ancient trees of Moonhaven Cemetery, carrying the scent of earth and stone. Zack walked beside me, consulting a small map on his phone as we navigated the winding paths between headstones.
"Plot 37," he muttered, frowning slightly. "But that's strange... according to this, they're not buried together." He looked up at me, confusion evident in his eyes. "Why aren't they buried together?"
I didn't respond, my thoughts too heavy with the weight of what we might discover. In my hands, I carried two bouquets of white lilies—traditional flowers of mourning among our kind. The petals trembled slightly in the breeze, as if sharing my unease.
