Dax walked over to the black bike. He threw his leg over the saddle and kicked the starter. The engine roared a sound of defiance, of freedom, of home.
He looked at me, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You turned down godhood, Ghost. Any regrets?"
I mounted the white bike, feeling the hum of the engine vibrate through my soul. I looked at the endless road ahead, a road that wove through the stars and back down to the messy, beautiful earth.
