Ivan hesitated, clearly terrified to speak the name. “She’s made contact with him. The Ghost.” The temperature in the room dropped instantly. I looked between them, confused. “Who is the Ghost?” Nikolai’s face had gone deathly white. He slowly sat down, rubbing his face with both hands. “The Ghost,” he said quietly, “is a legend. A shadow. No one knows his real name. He doesn’t run a family — he destroys them. He’s the one who orchestrates silent coups. The one who makes entire bloodlines disappear overnight. Even my father was afraid of him.”

The Cullinan tore down the road. After the hospital bandaged me up, I took him to the children's ward. I stood outside the glass, pointed in at a small boy playing with toys. "That's my son. Damian." Damian looked like me. But he had Lorenzo's softness. Lorenzo's stubbornness. He was my last ray of light in this world. And he was dying. Almost seven years old, and so small it broke my heart. Then, the curious baby began to explore his questions, “Daddy, where did you just go? Why did your body change like this?" Thorne showed no signs of panic when caught red-handed. Instead, he looked at Samuel with a smile and truthfully confessed, "Daddy just went to the underworld and had a fight with a demon. I almost couldn't make it back, but luckily you saved me."

Ghost hardly felt it. I laughed. Loud. Full. Echo bouncing off the high ceiling. “You,” I said to the boy, “will suffer for the pain your mother caused me.” Ghost didn’t laugh. He never does. He crossed the room and set the boy on a chair. He kept a hand on the boy’s shoulder until I stepped close. “Delivery complete,” Ghost said. His tone was flat, like he was reading a receipt. “Alive. Quiet. Unseen.” I nodded, eyes still on the child. “Perfect.”

A voice came, I looked up at the ghost, my pulse twitching, is this thing challenging me, I Malrik Alderfang, the son of Talon Alderfang. "Do you even know who you are talking too?" I questioned my voice cracking due to anger, the thing was then suddenly quiet. I was about to speak when it said "you are Malrik Alderfang, the son of Alpha Talon that cruel and evil man" the ghost said. I tilted my head to a side a little, I could feel more anger build up in me, if only I could see and touch this thing I would have killed it with my own hands. "Can you please just go away" Rowan begged.
