To the left, I noticed a new shelf, small, polished, and unlike the grand spiral ones towering around us. My gaze caught on a delicate gold tag at the top: ‘The Juliens.’ My lips curved without meaning to. He set the books down carefully, arranging them as though they were fragile pieces of our story.

Maybe I wouldn’t get to eat waffles all the time, but I’d live. A glint of gold caught my eye. I turned and went towards the book. As I grew closer, I realized that this whole section was made of older books. The one with the gold on the binding looked a little newer, but not by much. I pulled the book off the shelf and frowned. “A History of Werewolves.” I carried it to my room. It was a really thick book, so I knew that it was going to take me a few days to get through it. I’d probably get through it the day they got back.

I look over the maroon colored book that looks to be centuries old and place my fingers over the title. ‘The Golden Goddess.’ My eyes look back up to Issac and he smiles. “We don’t have a lot on the golden wolf here. Maybe the king can help us get a few more books to research. Or we can ask him what he knows.” He says and I shake my head, “I don’t want to know what he knows. If the books are out there, I’ll find them myself.” Issac looks disappointed but nods and looks back at the book.

Gail ran her fingers over the leather bound spines of the books. None of the golden embossed titles called to her as books that might help her break Joel’s curse. Residual anger still stewed deep in her stomach as she remembered her conversation with Aunt Rose. After all this time, only now did Gail discover her aunt had a small library filled with books about magic.

And then, I found three different books, one was pitch color, another was burnt orange, and the last one was pure silver. I stared at the three books on the desk affectionately. If I had the time, I would have picked the three up by reading them all, but I must return back to my room before Talon’s arrival if I was not ready to witness his wrath again. The pages are an old, yellowish color, but intact. “Most of the Raven Wolf King books here are written to sound like fantasy, as if he were just a fairy tale. This one’s the one you want. Depicts date‑to‑date events.”

It was another big book, its cover was not normal, you can tell it by single glance that it was not written in this era. The pages were golden yellow and the cover was made of skin. Books before sixteenth century were used to have animal skin as their covers. Damien took the book from her hand and started flipping pages. The smell of old book hits my nostrils and it only confirmed my suspicions. He stopped after flipping twenty or so pages and turned the book towards me.
