Ethan nodded. “It’s too quiet. It’s waiting for something, or… someone. I just don’t know what.”
“Then we need to find out,” Clara said decisively. “Before it’s too late.”
That night, as the camp settled into an uneasy rest, Ethan found himself drawn to the edge of the forest, where the shadows seemed deeper, the air thicker with an unnatural chill. His intuition shouted at him to turn back, but something else, a whisper, a drag encouraged him forward.
