asked an old man standing in the sky, his eyes fixed on the forbidden land's door. "Well, let's see. If this kid really has the key, there's no harm in fighting the whole world. Because maybe we can create a new god for this world!" said the old woman beside him with a smile and high hopes when mentioning gods. All the elders who were hiding now had one hope and one desire that had become their lifelong obsession: to reach a higher level called godhood. That was their hope. Perhaps everyone also hoped to become a god, especially in this world that had lost its direction.

“Yes, master?” she says, looking up at the God adoringly. “Keep him contained,” the God says, reaching out a hand to grasp her chin, turning her face side to side like he’s inspecting it and finds it wanting. “Do not, under any circumstances, take him back to the Earth.” “Yes, sir!” Midnight says, her face bursting into her strange fake smile. The God of Darkness nods once and begins to walk in the direction that he came, fading and then vanishing as he goes, leaving Jesse awe-struck and dumb with shock, and fear, and agony when he realizes that…he’s not going home.

Why wasn't he killing me then? "Still, I can't believe that the power went to someone like you." He brought a finger to his lips and watched amusingly. "I mean, I did everything possible. I thought it could come out somewhere close to me but it went too far. And now that I'm close, it's not fully developed. The irony of everything." He glanced at his watch. "It's like the Goddess is playing games with me." He straightened his suit. "I have real big plans for you. Everyone has high expectations, I just hope you are up to hand for it. I hope you aren't a disappointment and that your development is positive."

The Conclave was held in a place that didn't exist on any human map. We traveled for two days. First by car through winding mountain roads, then on foot through a pass that seemed to appear only when the moonlight hit the stones at a certain angle. Fenra and three of her strongest wolves accompanied us—silent, watchful, their golden eyes scanning the shadows for threats that never materialized but always felt present. Kael walked beside me. He hadn't spoken much since we left Fenrir territory. His silence wasn't cold—it was focused. The silence of a man preparing for war.

It is but a few stone's throw from the hut after all. Inside the glow of the hut provided by a flurry of candles swaying briefly with the wind, the god decided he'll leave now. And so he moved out, the pelting rain gave shivers down his spine and wet his soggy clothes that's now clinging onto his body like sticky glue. The skies grumbled and lightning flashed as the god ventured towards the array of vines, clinging onto makeshift fences, unbothered and well.

Goldie walks over to Katcha and grabs her by the arm. “Wait, no!” She panics and tugs on his hand to get him to let go. “What did you just do?!” Darryl also exclaims in a panic as he rushes to block the door. His knees shook from witnessing the phenomena from earlier, yet he is determined to look Goldie in the eyes. There is a golden glint within his irises, and they seemed to flicker and grow similarly compared to a fire. It grows more, and more, until all he could see is a whole room burning down. He almost felt warm all over, and for the first time he noticed just how breathtakingly beautiful she was. Christian Ayettey groaned inwardly. What the fuck was happening to him?

A blinding light erupted, splitting the heavens, and with a scream that ripped the skies apart, Kael fell. Down he plummeted, through clouds and stars, through endless bitter silence, until he crashed into the earth with the force of a dying star. The impact left a crater that bled fire, but Kael barely noticed. Pain like he’d never known burned through him as his bones twisted, his skin tore, and his very soul fragmented. When the agony finally ended, he became something else. Not a man. Not a god. A beast. He was the beast they’d promised. Above him, the heavens re-formed, their gates sealing shut. And from within their unreachable heights, a voice called down:

"You will remain here." The streets below were home only to ghosts and shadows now. The people were cowering in whatever safe haven they could find, whether it be the claustrophobic aisles of a department store or the dark back room of an office. Anywhere was better than the bubbling mire outside. The heat from the burning blood would not affect the deity who once walked in his own volcanic Eden. Nor did it affect the creatures he crafted but it certainly made their way more taxing. Isaac watched as a soft haze encapsulated the God's body and slowly, he began to fade, glowing translucent and glorious.
