He looked terrible. Dark circles under his eyes, stubble on his jaw, his golden hair unkempt. He sat at his desk, staring at a file folder with my name on it.
“Anything?” His father’s voice, off screen.
“Nothing. She’s vanished completely. No scent trail, no sightings, nothing.” Damien’s voice was rough, exhausted. “It’s like she disappeared into thin air.”
“Good riddance,” Alpha Steele said, and my hands clenched into fists. “We have more important things to worry about. The rogue attacks are increasing. We need to—”
