“Later Gina.” On one of the few episodes of Haunters I’d watched, Brandon had explained that after years of investigating dilapidated buildings, the dust and the mold had weakened his lungs, and that was why he wore a face mask in so many episodes from season four on. So now, true to his canon, Brandon hurried to wear a face mask before venturing into the building and taking the lead with Brett. This time, Kujo took my hand to follow the others down the decrepit dark hallways up to a stairwell. Brett led us down the two last flights, to a freezing pitch black damp basement.

And my soul? Yeah, it tried to run away. This… thing… was tall. Nightmare tall. Slim like a shadow, someone stretched too far. Moving like smoke pretending to be a person. A mask covered its face—smooth, blank, empty. No eyes. No nose. No mouth. Just darkness shaped into a face. Its steps made no sound. Its presence made the air colder than my ex’s heart. Goosebumps attacked my skin, but I tried to stand strong. “Don’t look at the mask,” Cullen’s mother whispered.

Edward sighed as he accepted the fact that he had to explain his identity when Andrea burst out in tears. "My head hurts so much and I feel so cold. Everyone hates me…" Andrea cried as she held her head. Edward used this time to wear his masquerade mask before walking towards her. "Stay calm and go take your bath. I called a doctor to take care of you." He said as he sat beside her. *What's the use of wearing the mask when she already saw your face?* He asked himself, but disregarded it to focus on persuading her to take her bath.

Aukey roll his eyes and place his hand on his golden half mask,Isabelle clench her fist anxiously,he lift his mask in one swing and Isabelle felt completely breathless. The weight of the night pressed on me, and I was painfully aware of how alone I felt. And then, piercing the silence, came Celeste’s scream. “Wolf! There’s a huge wolf by the cabins!” The sudden shift in atmosphere was palpable. Elation turned to panic, music to terrified screams. And amidst it all, I desperately sought one face. Or rather, one mask. Rose. I pushed past party-goers, my eyes scanning for her familiar form, my heart pounding with dread. But Rose was nowhere to be found. The world seemed to still for a moment when my gaze settled on a particular spot on the ground. There, lying amid the crushed grass, was Rose’s mask, its sleek black form contrasting sharply with the pale moonl

I kept my eyes squeezed shut, but after a few moments, I heard him chuckle softly. "I didn’t want to scare you, so I whistled. From now on, that’ll be our signal, okay? I know you’re not asleep. Were you waiting for me? Was last night so good that you’re already ready for more tonight?" He hit the nail on the head, and I opened my eyes, feeling both embarrassed and irritated. He looked just like he did the night before, his face hidden behind a mask, only his eyes visible. However, I had left a small lamp on tonight, casting a warm, dim light in the room.

Nothing serious. Chris takes my wrist, his grip gentle as he examines it. “You need to stop breaking yourself in every haunted forest.” I snort, a little breathless. “I tripped on a corpse. Not exactly something I trained for.” Chris doesn’t smile. He just brushes his thumb across the side of my hand, as if steadying us both. “That mask… it had to be centuries old. But it looked fresh. Like it was only just left there.” A beat of silence. The flames crackle behind us.

Soft music and faint moans drifted from somewhere distant, raising goosebumps on my arms. I hesitated, torn between going back to the room like a good girl or exploring like the foolish, curious creature I was. Curiosity won, and I padded forward slowly, my heart thundering. One door sat ajar ahead of me, a low, rhythmic creaking sound leaking through. I crept closer, barely peeking. "Little one," a voice spoke right behind me, "you shouldn’t be wandering alone." I whirled around to find a man leaning casually against the wall, a deep blue mask on his face. Short brown hair, and an easy, knowing smile tugging at his mouth, everything about him screamed danger.
