Something huge detached itself from the darkness and approached her. Carine scrabbled backwards away from the monster as it came towards her, halting in the middle of the room. It was six feet tall, covered in black leather which Carine abruptly realised was its skin and had what looked like wings folded on its back. She felt the twitch of madness grab at her as she looked upon the horrible face of a gargoyle; wide, bulging eyes in a muddy colour, fanged mouth revealed by peeled back lips. It stopped over the hole, squatted and issued a stream of liquid as it locked eyes with her. She’s just having a pee…

I was the one to draw the circle, channel my power, and summon the demon. The piece of chalk in my hand glowed blue. Ordinary chalk, used by students everywhere, yet I put so much of my power inside it that the pentagram flashed with fire as soon as I started to draw it. I'm not sure how to put it; my necromancer's gift, my magic power, and my half-demon nature poured out of my fingers, soaking the chalk, sliding across the lines, which were coming to life right before our very eyes.

The creature itself seems like a giant bat, except the features are more humanoid. The limbs were thin and springy, the torso was small and rounded at the belly, but the ribs and clavicles were prominent at the chests. The face and the head was even more grotesque. It was a Forge-Gargoyle—a colossal, four-legged sentinel designed to clear the crucible shafts of structural debris. Its heavy body was cast from dense, dark brass, its joints armored by thick plates of layered iron that ground together with the sound of a collapsing fortress. It didn't slide; it used its massive, four-inch mechanical talons to gouge deep channels into the basalt walls, descending the vertical chute in large, terrifying bounds that sent massive chunks of broken stone raining down upon our heads. He had colored her with red. Then she was surrounded by green bushes. There were small rocks around the area. But what caught my attention the most, was his illustration of the pool of blood on the floor and a small child drowning in it. It was definitely the nightmares. I flipped through the other papers and saw other strange but similar drawings. A red eyed owl. An old house. And the last one was a drawing of an ancient Greek symbol. I couldn't place what it was.
