"Do it," Chalida nodded, her fear vanishing, replaced by a cold, sharp resolve. "Do it now."
Pim slammed the drive into a public terminal, and for a fleeting second, the world seemed to hold its breath. The countdown timer on the billboards stalled at forty-two.
Then, the screens went white.
"It’s done," Pim whispered.
But as the silence stretched, the ground beneath them suddenly shifted. The entire block seemed to groan.
"Pim," Chalida said, pointing at the sky. "The servers... they aren't turning off."
