I can’t.
I glance down. Five stories. The pavement below looks impossibly far away. My breath comes fast and sharp.
If I fall, I die.
My fingers shake, blood dripping from fresh wounds, making it even harder to hold on. My muscles scream in protest as I try to pull myself up. My boots scrabble against the wall, trying to find something to latch on, but there’s nothing, only smooth, unyielding stone.
Above me, the vampire chuckles. “Pathetic,” he murmurs.
