The title when this was still a draft was actually ‘Can’t Help Falling (In Love With You)’ because I was listening to the same song only the dark version at the time. But I got annoyed because I felt it was too freaking long to be a title. For a time, I settled calling the story "Fall from Grace" in my head but it still felt wrong... so when I searched for a synonym, the meaning of the word descent.. clicked; it feels like it perfectly sums up the entire plot.

The descent from Floor 12 wasn't a journey; it was a **stampede**. The elevator shafts couldn't hold us. The "Administrative" laws of gravity couldn't contain us. Led by Fenris and the Silver Moon Pack, a thousand "Archived Assets" tore through the floorboards, falling like a multi-genre avalanche toward the base of the MegaNoel Spire. I fell through the dark, my violet Luna-shimmer illuminating the faces of the rebels around me. I saw the rusted knight clinging to a support beam; I saw a cybernetic assassin from a "Cancelled" 2099 thriller diving through the static.

They were eager to see how far the pair could go. As time passed, Adrian and Tyron climbed three more steps, now only five steps away from the two Astrals. Suddenly, a tremendous force of gravity descended, striking Adrian’s back harshly. Remarkably, he remained unscathed. "Ha! You little pests, hurry up and climb if you can. I advise you to go back down quickly, or you’ll face death. Don’t say I didn’t warn you," one of the Astrals mocked coldly.

The game has finally started. Complete mayhem breaks out. I take a glimpse at Matt, only to find him staring astonished at the moving walls. My brain is frozen trying to find a logical explanation of what is happening around us. Platforms of all sizes stand out at different heights, while the floor is falling apart. I duck just in time before the surface under my feet breaks into small particles and vanishes in the bottomless abyss. We all start jumping and grabbing the newly formed prominences, away from the hole in the ground and moving up to a safer spot.
