THE ART OF FALLING
His body tensed, every muscle alert.
“What?” he asked quietly.
“I think she moved,” Trisha said, her voice shaking. “I swear I did.”
They both froze, eyes fixed on Nora’s face.
Seconds passed.
Nothing.
Trisha’s chest sank, disappointment crashing in so fast it hurt. She let out a shaky breath, ashamed of the hope that had surged too quickly.
“Maybe I imagined”
Then Nora’s fingers twitched.
Just once.
But it was real.
Jaden stood up so fast his chair scraped loudly against the floor.
