I dropped to my knees full of disgust at myself when I heard Justin's gasp of shock behind me.

I said. The flight was a blur of G-force and emerald fire. The Reapers had deployed "Sentries"—smaller, insectoid drones that swarmed the sky like locusts. Fenris pushed the flyer to its limits, weaving through the obsidian pillars and diving into canyons to avoid the scanning beams. "Hold on!" Fenris roared as a Reaper beam clipped our wing. The flyer spun, the world turning into a kaleidoscope of green and grey. I felt Silas’s shadows wrap around the interior of the cabin, acting as a cushion of dark energy. I looked out the window and saw the mountain.

I clawed at his arm. "Why won't you die?" he growled. "Because I'm not yours," I gasped. I closed my eyes and focused. The power inside me-it was flickering like a candle. Light up,I told it. Now! Wings burst from my back. Not feathered. Not white. But black. Shining. Sharp. I screamed and slammed into him with everything I had. --- I woke on the floor of the graveyard, trembling. "Trial Two... survived," the Guardian whispered. "Now... the final one."

This pair of wings was made up of hundreds of long swords with terrifying flames. As they flapped, cracks could be seen clearly in the hollow. It was obvious that this pair of weapon wings was not only used to speed up and fly, but also to attack. Rumble! Behind her, explosive sounds began to ring out.

“Are you my boyfriend or my bodyguard?” He held his ring in front of me, my eyes were magnetized by the intricate carvings on it. “Guardian angel, remember?” He straightened up on his seat, and in a louder than necessary voice, he said, “And unlike the last one you had, I have a sword, not a halo. And my wings are black, not white. It’s time they realized who they will have a problem with the next time they hurt even a single hair in your body!” My eyes widened at him. He took my hand in his again, and then he bent down to kiss my fingers once again. “I love you, angel.” He didn’t even whisper that. I was sure many people around us heard everything he said.
