Guardian Novels Novels & Stories

“He told me we have the same eyes. He said he’s my real family. He said Daddy is just a ‘guardian.’ What’s a guardian, Mommy?” The words felt like a physical blow. I looked toward the house and saw Zander standing in the doorway, watching us. The look of agony on his face was profound. He was a man who had built his entire identity on being our protector, our “guardian,” and now, Julian was using that very word to make him sound like an outsider. “A guardian is someone who loves you so much they’d do anything to keep you safe,” I told Ethan, though my voice felt hollow. “But Uncle Julian… he’s just confused, Ethan. Go play with Sophie in the playroom, okay?”

Now I have an announcement to make. This book was originally written three years ago and was posted on another writing app and site. And even before, I already planned to write Gunner's older brother, Shawn's, own story. I originally planned to write the book separately, but since Shawn's own book is shorter than Guarded Heat, publishing it here in Goodnovel separately won't be a good decision at all. And so, I decided that instead of publishing it separately, I will make it a side story here in Guarded Heat. I hope you will love Shawn and George's story as much as you loved Gunner and Layland's!

my mother said without looking up. I couldn’t laugh. “Read the rest,” I begged. My mother swallowed hard. “The Guardian is not born when the world is at peace. She is born when humanity plots its betrayal and magic grows arrogant. She will be marked by a seal that will protect her mind until the enemy reveals the gateway. Her heart will walk in fear, but her will will be iron. The wolf who finds her will not be able to possess her, for if he tries to make her a cage, the Veil will reject him. He will only be able to walk beside her as a shield and not as a master.”

I stood by the pillar in the dining hall, my hands clasped behind my back. Anyone looking at me would have just concluded I was the mutt who did his job and didn't ask questions. But inside, my head was a war zone. When I first took this job, it was supposed to be simple. Guard the Princess. Keep her safe until she married the southern Alpha. I didn't expect the Moon Goddess to play a cruel trick on me. I didn't expect that the moment I inhaled her scent—that sweet mix of lavender and something like jasmine—my world would tilt on its axis.

In the living room, a blanket lay folded neatly on the arm of the couch. He moved to Stella’s bedroom. The bed was neatly made, and a few books were stacked by the headboard. He stepped closer, fingers brushing over the dusty book covers. He recognized the titles, ancient texts on guardianship, and several fantasy novels, they were her favorite genre. He closed his eyes, feeling his stomach twist. The last time they’d spoken six months ago, he’d left too quickly, assured she would be safe in his house, convinced that there was no immediate danger, but who knew his stupid wife and her daughter would chase her from the house? Now, that confidence felt like a mockery.

Thank you all so much for reading my little Freakshow!! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it! Don't be sad about Adriana and Liam's unresolved story since they will have their OWN novel coming soon to GoodNovel! Look for it in the next month titled "The Alpha's Redeemer" This will be a much more emotionally charged book than you are used to reading from me but I promise it will be action-packed and full of sass! All of the characters from the "Guardian" standalone series will be in this one!

He took a step back, crossing his arms with an almost protective determination in his stance. Damien let out a sigh, as though burdened with more than he was willing to share. “You may not realize it yet,” he continued, “but I am your incubus guardian now. And it seems to me that you haven’t quite understood what that means.” The weight of his words settled around us, both intimidating and strangely comforting. For all his firm talk, I could sense his resolve, his commitment to whatever bond he’d forged with me. “So, shall we get back to the matter of getting to know each other?” Damien’s voice was a low, smooth murmur, his gaze fixed intently on me.

“Don’t confuse me protecting my son with me giving a shit about you or Carlos.” Julia laughed, turning around. “Oh, and the guard that was delivering your food…” She paused, looking back at me. “He’s not coming.” Julia’s laugh filled the warehouse as she headed for the door. I hated her. But I hated him more. I gripped the blanket so tight my knuckles turned white. I tried to count how many times I had felt them. But it was no use. I laid my head back on the wall, the cold seeping through my body, but I welcomed it. Closing my eyes and letting sleep overtake me.

She quickly scooped some more into her mouth and she felt her energy coming back to her, she didn't notice it but damn she was exhausted. "Now that you've regained your energy, sit down and listen I'll tell you everything you need to know" Elle nodded and sat down "For starters, you are still on Earth but in a different realm. A realm that no one in the human realm really knows about. This realm and most of the creatures in it are as old as the first human to exist, it's called the guardian realm because it exists to guard and protect the world, especially humans, yes! Humans" the tree said, and Elle looked at her skeptically

He sighed. Chewing my lip, I reached for the book in his hand. The pages were empty, though the magic that emanated from the thing was enough to make the hair on my arms rise. My vision had only led to more questions. It seemed the goddesses had creations before the supernaturals currently roaming the earth. Creations they had used to destroy another celestial. Ones that my guardian claimed to share a collective memory with. Before I could voice my questions, footsteps sounded outside of my door. “The god comes, mistress. You must run.” My guardian spoke, his face solemn as he took a defensive stance in front of me.
