Tobias crosses his arms, tilting his head, that calm confidence of his showing. I nod quickly, forcing a sheepish smile. "Yes. Really." A long beat of silence passes between us, the wind carrying the faint city hum below. Then he asks, voice playful again, "What’s in it for me?" Relief floods through me — he believes me. Or maybe he’s just going along for fun. Either way, I’ll take it. I raise my hand again, palm open, my heart pounding. "Come on. Shake on it." Tobias studies me for a moment, then rubs his chin thoughtfully. Finally, a grin spreads across his face. "Deal."

Tobias Voss was a giant despite his age, and his sharp gaze cut past me like I wasn’t even there. And then I saw his eyes locked onto Knox. Knox’s easygoing expression immediately hardened as Tobias stepped inside without an invitation. “Well.” Tobias drawled with his voice dripping with disdain. “If it isn’t my least favorite ghost from the past.” Knox leaned back in his chair, feigning nonchalance, but I caught the way his fingers twitched. “Tobias. Still kicking, huh? Guess grudges keep you alive longer.” A muscle in Tobias’s jaw pulsed. I didn’t even know these two had history. I stayed frozen by the counter contemplating between stepping in and staying out of whatever this was.

I grinned, walking out of my room with my phone pressed against my ear and my shoulder. "Tobi just created a OF account and his dear thirty viewers asked him to play with toys in his next video, so we come shopping for some. Hehehe." Grace giggling made me followed behind. Holding my stomach from laughing too hard, I said. "Why the fuck am I just hearing about this?" "Oh, sweetheart, our dear Tobi is super shy. You should see him right now, he's all shades of red." I heard Tobi mumbled something like he was going to kill Grace, in the background and that didn't help me stop laughing at all.

And Olivia is right on time, “Tobias. What happened to you?” She rushes in like a wind and so does Theo and asks, “What happened?” “Toby is… he is…” I say but stop and start sobbing. Olivia comes towards me and shakes my shoulder and asks, “Tell me. Why isn’t he speaking up? What happened? Why is he so gloomy? What is wrong with him?” “Toby has a tumor in his brain.” I sob that out. “What?” Theo asks while Toby tries to maintain his shock of my words too.

Tobias was sitting in a chair opposite the desk, also holding a glass of liquor. “Ah, there she is” Gunner chuckled raising his glass in my direction. Wow, he seems unusually cheerful. “Here I am” I chuckled nervously. I sat down in the chair next to Tobias and threw him a weary glance. His face was also sporting a huge smile. What is going on here? “What have I missed?” I asked looking between the two of them. “Nothing little one, we were just having a chat” Tobias shrugged with a smile. “Huh, I didn’t realize that you two were so chummy” I smirked, throwing a wink to Gunner.

The door closes behind her and not a second later does Tobias open his mouth. “That girl has some big balls!” Tobias said while chuckling and clapping me on the shoulder. Once again, dude can’t handle awkward silences for shit.

Tobias laughed, jogging up beside me, eyes gleaming with mischief. “What’s wrong, huh? You look like shit. Those bags under your eyes, man—wait, wait, don’t tell me…” I shot him a withering glare. “Don’t tell you what?” Before I could stop him, Tobias leaped onto my back, hooking an arm around my neck, grinning like an idiot. “Did it happen?” he whispered, leaning close like he was sharing some big secret. “Did you finally let go of all that tension? Huh? Get a little release last night?”

he tried to grab it again but Xavier pulled away quickly and Toby laughed. "You have to promise that you're gonna be my friend. Are we friends?” Toby nodded, still eyeing the car. "Good boy,” Xavier smiled and retrieved something from his pocket. "Do you want a candy?” Toby looked down at it, skeptical. He shook his head but still stared at it. “Why not? Did mommy say you shouldn't take candy from strangers?" When Toby nodded, Xavier waved his hand dismissively. "That's bullshit!” "Bullshit!” Toby repeated childishly with a laugh.

“You're too nice, Leo. I'd be doing a tap dance of glee right now.” “I think it's sweet,” I countered. “You don't want anybody stuck in that hell.” “You tried, Leo,” Bastian said with a shrug. “You can't save everybody.” The fact that Leo still wanted to help Toby, despite everything, showed how good Leo was. He was a good man. I loved him even more. Toby threw away a friendship worth more than anything that blackmail could have given him. “Well, I need a drink,” Gabe announced, putting his arms across Bastian and Leo's shoulders. “Drinks down at the bar on 13th street?”

Leaving Rhett and me with Tobias. “Who would you have betted on if Lamia hadn’t come and stopped those two?” Rhett asks as soon as the room is clear. “King, always King!” Tobias says, moving over to the liquor canteen in the corner. Taking out three glasses, holding one up to me. “Make mine an ouzo,” I tell him. Tobias comes over and takes a seat on the opposite end of the couch from Rhett, I sit in one of the chairs facing them.
