Every eye in the gym locked onto me. This was it; there would be no more running, no more hiding. I lifted my chin, squared my shoulders, and signalled to Jake to start the music. The opening beats filled the gym. And I began.

It just meant I got to leave the office at seven instead of nine. Across the street, my second home waited. Fourtex. The gym I’d bought years ago for convenience and then couldn’t resist turning into something more. What had started as a place to burn frustration had turned into a thriving side project. Even now, as I pushed through the doors, the air vibrated with the thump of gloves against bags, the smack of leather, the grunts of men chasing discipline. Ivanis was already waiting, bouncing on the balls of his feet. His gloves looked worn, but the cocky gleam in his eye was fresh as ever.

"He holds our gym's lone diamond VIP card. His spending alone is worth a hundred people. What trouble? He's the god of wealth!" When the gym owner noticed Ambrose walk away from the equipment, he approached him with a smile. "Mr. Hamilton, our gym has just launched a new personal training course that focuses on muscular definition. It can add the perfect touch to your excellent physique and make you even more charming. Are you interested in it?" He responded without hesitation, "Sure!" The gym owner was thrilled. "I'll be right away, Mr. Hamilton!" Flashback to the Gym I should have known something was up when we arrived and found the place empty. The gym was massive, an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art facility with sleek black and silver equipment neatly arranged in different sections. The walls were lined with mirrors that made the space feel even bigger, and recessed ceiling lights cast a bright yet soft glow over the entire area. The scent of fresh rubber and faintly lingering cologne from previous users filled the air, blending with the hum of ventilation systems.

So I smile at him sweetly as I stride inside. The gym is open plan: a cavernous room with thick pillars and four boxing rings—one in each corner. Music blasts from a stack of speakers against one wall, and there's a desk by the door with a blond guy in a black polo tapping away at a keyboard. He shoots me a quick smile—way more welcoming than the old guy—then clicks at his screen. "Be right with you." "Sure," I murmur. It's good. I need a chance to get my bearings.

Elena’s POV** I joined the gym because I wanted to feel stronger by the end of summer. The place was small but expensive-looking—black rubber floors, mirrored walls, rows of gleaming machines that smelled faintly of metal and disinfectant. I’d signed up online, paid the f*e, showed up in leggings and a cropped tank, ready to sweat out whatever leftover freshman-year stress was still clinging to me. Marcus was behind the desk when I walked in.

I probably wouldn’t have found myself in that situation if I hadn’t been such a smart mouth.” Tank grinned again. “I like your smart mouth.” We drove in silence until we reached the gym. It was a six story monstrosity that featured a pool, sauna, indoor running track and state of the art equipment for whatever trend of exercise you were currently into. The entire front of the building was glass and I could see dozens of people in multiple states of sweat working out in the facility.

Let her membership lapse. But her body remembered. She clicked the link. The gym was open at eight AM on weekends. No contract needed. Drop-in rate: twenty dollars. She was wearing old workout clothes, black leggings and a faded tank top, with her hair in a tight braid. It was a fifteen-minute walk to the gym. The building was nestled between a laundromat and an auto shop, with no exterior indication it was a gym save for a small sign next to the door.
