His looks seemed like he was planning something disgraceful. “Hades,” Poseidon uttered, his tone threatening. Hades looked at him with a piercing glare and then let out a sinister laugh. “Poseidon, Poseidon, Poseidon... how is your son on earth?” Hades said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. “Don’t you dare touch my son, Hades!” Poseidon was aggrieved at the mention of his son. You’re breaking my wrist!" Hades’s grip only tightened, his sharp canines glinting as he leaned closer. "Where is my daughter?" His tone was not a question; it was a death sentence waiting for an answer.

He reminded me of Jackson—he was imitating him. “Have you forgotten who my father is?” he said coldly. He shook his head slowly and leaned back in his chair. He grinned. “I am Jackson De Verra’s son, Hade. His blood runs in my veins. How can you be so sure I’m not part of this? How can you be so sure I’m your friend? What a fool.” I flipped the small table between us and kicked Jarred in the chest, making him roll in his chair. He curled up and let out a low groan.

I opened the box and saw a gold necklace with a small round pendant. It was a globe. Hade and I share the same dream to go out into the world, but I'm the only one who gets to go. Somehow, inside me, my heart ached for Hade who had to stay for his family after his two eldest brothers died, one in war and one with an illness. I wondered who was going to stop him if he suddenly flew off the handle in anger now that Poseidon had his hands full and wasn't present. I studied Zeus, watch him struggle to hone some ounce of control. Gritting his teeth he spoke, avoiding Hade's name like mentioning it stung.
