I became the hybrid of what I used to be and what I needed to be—half human, half beast.
“What is a rose doing in the middle of the glade of lilies?” I wondered.
A snap echoed under my toes as I propped myself on both legs. The ears on my scalp twisted in a full circle, alerted by the sound. Internally, I wrestled with the beast. It wanted to take over the controls. Our arms locked, pressing against our existence.
These yellowish, hairy arms walked up to my elbow. As her eyes met mine, my legs paced back and forth, locked in a loop of clashing thoughts. My mind wanted to split both ways, but I could only have one—but which?
